Description
Buried services signify a major hazard to Construction and Utility workers in the UK. Excavations which have been poorly planned and prepared for can cause cable or pipe damage leading to expensive repairs, project delays and most crucially, personal injury. The CAT, or Cable Avoidance Tool, is used to locate these services so that they can be avoided.
The CAT can detect signals naturally radiating from metallic services or in conjunction with a Genny that applies a distinctive signal that the CAT can detect.
The CAT can be used in 4 modes: Power (P), Radio (R), Avoidance (A) and Genny (G) and can detect most buried cables and conductors (though not all, such as plastic pipe which hasn’t had a Flexi-trace wire added).
Knowing how to use these tools correctly is imperative in their successful use. Ace Trainers offer a CAT and Genny training course which properly prepares candidates to use the equipment, providing them with the essential knowledge needed to safely and correctly operate them when tracing underground services.
The course is designed to meet the guidance from HSG 47 for Avoiding Danger from Underground Services , Puwer98 , Health and safety at work act 1974
At the end of this course you will be able to:
Duration
(4-6 Hours ) Novice & refresher course for up to 6 operators
